Between 1948-1966, Kafr Qasim lived under military rule with a curfew imposed every night, like all villages of the remaining Arab citizens of Israel after the 1948 Nakba.
On the morning of the 29th of October 1956, when the villagers set out to work on the fields, they did not know that later that day a decision would be made to start the curfew earlier than usual. Breaking the curfew carried a death sentence. Upon the beginning of the earlier set curfew, Israeli border patrol soldiers ended up murdering 47 innocent Palestinian citizens of Israel, women, children, and men.
The case was exposed by an Israeli journalist and heavy public pressure led to the soldiers being put on trial. The film reenacts selected dialogues from the original trial transcripts that were only recently exposed.
Three narrative lines intertwined like a tense legal drama, reveal the complex historical, political, and psychological reality that shaped and enabled the event. The cinematic mosaic creating the plot lines highlights the huge differences and conflicting narratives that exist until today between Jews and Arabs in this place.
