This course draws on archival materials, Palestinian newspapers, photographs, advertisements, memoirs, and personal testimonies to explore everyday life in Palestine before, during, and after the Nakba. Through authentic texts and a wide range of historical and cultural sources, we will engage with questions of art, culture, society, labor, economics, and politics, while strengthening our Arabic skills. Together, we will examine how ordinary people lived, worked, created, and imagined their futures, and how these experiences were shaped by the profound transformations of the twentieth century.
