It encourages learners to move beyond fixed patterns, develop creativity in the language, and gain confidence improvising in Hebrew- even outside the comfort zone of everyday topics, while continuing to build and deepen key grammatical structures. Through discussions, video clips, and short texts, the course introduces a broad view of the realities that shape life in Israel. Topics include questions of who lives here and under what conditions, geopolitics and occupation, past and current events, gender and LGBTQ+ life and history, different forms of community, and social dynamics such as center versus periphery, alongside cultural and political expression and an introduction to the political system. Do you want to be able to express yourself in daily life but also to navigate more unexpected situations? TINAU’s Beginner Plus course will give you tools to seriously level up what you can do and how comfortable you feel speaking and learning Hebrew. We will do this together through plenty of conversational practice and varied activities, learning to use more complex grammatical structures, the past tense, and plenty of reading and writing practice. Of course, This is Not an Ulpan, so - there will be opportunities to suggest topics and influence the pace and methods of the course, and learners will gain insights into the overall cultural and socio-political complexity of Israel. Throughout the course, our kind and creative teachers will support you through the tough parts of language learning so that you can enjoy the journey.     In this advanced Hebrew course, we will look at how both mainstream and independent media in Israel have behaved during the war and over the past decade. We'll explore what is often left out of coverage, the topics that get the most attention, and the issues that are considered off-limits. We'll also analyze how the media reports on stories from outside Israel and how controversial issues are covered, thinking about how these representations shape public opinion. The course will include writing assignments that allow participants to creatively engage with the topics we discuss, though no prior experience in creative writing is required. By the end, you will have a better understanding of how media works in Israel and have improved your writing skills in a way that connects to the critical issues we cover. All advanced learners are welcome to this course. We will be using a variety of interactive activities, and giving plenty of space for learners to express themselves and their ideas in speaking and writing.
