תיאור הקורס
What does climate justice mean in the context of Israel-Palestine? How have occupation and war shaped Palestinian and Jewish relationships to the land and to nature? What are activists and communities doing about it?! In this course we will explore the politics of nature through local ecological issues, campaigns and stories. We will zoom out to learn about injustice in the allocation of natural resources, and zoom in to learn about community projects and campaigns that advance sustainability, nature connection and resilience. We will learn about local flora and fauna and related questions, including: What are the political and ecological issues with JNF-planted pine forests? How did one Palestinian village use its living heritage of sustainable terrace agriculture to stop the separation wall being built on its land? Why does building more roads keep us stuck in traffic? Why is the Dead Sea shrinking? What connects the destruction of Gaza, sea algae, and Israeli desalination plants? Alongside all this, we will also ask - how can we find hope in a better future in local and regional environmental activism, and in nature itself? All this while learning Hebrew at a challenging advanced level. The course will use a variety of methods including discussions, class presentations, reading, writing and games. *** Early Bird Price Start at - 1400 NIS - Until 06/12 Reduced Price Start at - 1550 NIS - Until 03/01 Full Price Start at - 1700 NIS - Until first lesson of the course We have made a small change in our pricing structure and are now offering a sliding scale in order to give you the opportunity to donate 100 or 200 shekels when you buy a course.
