In this advanced Hebrew course, we will look at how both mainstream and independent media in Israel have behaved during the war and over the past decade. We'll explore what is often left out of coverage, the topics that get the most attention, and the issues that are considered off-limits. We'll also analyze how the media reports on stories from outside Israel and how controversial issues are covered, thinking about how these representations shape public opinion. The course will include writing assignments that allow participants to creatively engage with the topics we discuss, though no prior experience in creative writing is required. By the end, you will have a better understanding of how media works in Israel and have improved your writing skills in a way that connects to the critical issues we cover. All advanced learners are welcome to this course. We will be using a variety of interactive activities, and giving plenty of space for learners to express themselves and their ideas in speaking and writing.
